Happy 10th Birthday Bull Market!Submitted by O'Grady Financial Group on March 9th, 2019
Happy Birthday Bull. No, not the guy who left NCIS to star in his own show. Bull Market, that is. 10-years old on March 9. Depending on when you’re watching…that’s a Saturday. When you were a kid didn’t you like it when your birthday fell on a Saturday. Didn’t have to go to school. You could get up early and watch Tarzan before Scooby-Doo and then get ready for your birthday party.
Well…Kid Bull has had some 10-years. The S&P 500 Index has more than quadrupled since its low of March 9th, 2009. A total return of 410-percent…that’s 17.7% annualized. *
But not without some growing pains. Remember any of these: The Greek Crisis, Eurozone Crisis, the Taper Tantrum, Ebola scare, Chinese stock bubble, Brexit exit…and on and on the forgotten one hit wonders go.
Here’s the point I’m attempting. All that stuff…I couldn’t remember that, and I work in this stuff. How’s anybody going to remember any of the crisis du jours once the du jour has passed. You’re not.
But didn’t main stream media make you think it’s different this time, the ride is over, and the world is ending…again.
Will this Kid Bull make it to its 11th birthday? Maybe…or not. Come on…does the weather man really know if it’s going to rain next Thursday? Oh yeah…we’ll dance with the bear again…sometime.
But in the meantime…stay focused, my friends…on the things you have some control over…like your family, your friends, your faith. And your finances. Remember…financial media peddles in short-term advice. You’re a long-term investor…and you don’t fall it.
The economic forecasts set forth in this material may not develop as predicted and there can be no guarantee that strategies promoted will be successful.
